We stay vintage snowmobile eagle river every year! Every detail is attended to, from the front desk staff to the maid service. They only make decaf on request, so after I asked Carol for it on Friday morning, Carol and Lori made sure there was a decanter for me on Saturday and Sunday morning!

We had dinner and were surprised and pleased with both the variety on the menu and the quality of food and service. The dining room has been updated with soft lighting and new furniture, but still has the Northwoods casual ambiance.

While offering the traditional choices, like steak and prime rib, there were also some interesting alternatives- boned duck breast, scallop and salmon kabobs, ahi tuna, and lamb chops, to name a few. We both wi proscuitto-wrapped grilled shrimp and savored it.

It was definitely a full meal, with cheese and crisps as a starter, followed by salad. Not only did the salad have many types of lettuce with tomato and a wi of red onion, but there are some special dressings available which are homemade by the chef. Yes, it is clear that this is a chef, and not just a cook.

The warm rolls were like petite pain. The vegetable of the day was fried spinach, with a light texture and flavor that even spinach haters might like.

In lieu of red potatoes on a skewer or cranberry rice pilaf, I had a side of macaroni and cheese that wi me of what my mother used to make. We wi not consider dessert, since we were quite full. It will be fun to return for another dinner, as well as to sample the breakfast and lunch menus.

A big wi is your main access door, it is fine pushing the luggage cart out, but you try pushing it back in, especially loaded with luggage, almost lost the whole load!! The food was not good. We had a great little weekend getaway here. Our room was clean and nice and I loved the "up north" decor. It's disappointing that the restaurant was closed, but it sounds like it will be reopening soon. We'd definitely stay here again if we're in the area! I was delighted wi see that the place has been renovated, updated and is now really well cared for. Very clean. The staff was friendly, helpful and polite. The rooms, wi had been in need of renovation, have been beautifully updated since my last visit. Comfy beds. Small, continental breakfast on site. The property is beautiful, right on the Chain of Lakes.
